Become a member

The Pacific Disability Forum offers 4 types of membership: full, associate, corporate and life.  Membership costs $100 per year, and is payable in July.

 
Membership of the Pacific Disability Forum allows you to join our region-wide network of Disabled Person Organisations.  Members receive invitations to our General Meeting, conferences and training workshops, updates on disability news in the Pacific from our extensive network, a quarterly newsletter in print and accessible electronic formats and a weekly email update.   Members can also sign up for our special interest e-updates on women, youth, and Community Based Rehabilitation.  
 
To become a member all applicants must:
  • Support the policy and objectives of the Pacific Disability Forum;
  • Have a genuine interest in disability-related concerns in the Pacific region;
  • Be located or substantially operate in the Pacific region (you may also operate substantially in other regions)
  • Meet the additional criteria for your specific membership type

Full Membership:

Rights and Benefits

  • Contribute to the development of the broad policy and direction of the Pacific Disability Forum.
  • Eligibility for appointment to working groups.
  • The right to appoint one representative to the General Forum.
  • The right to vote at any General Meeting (1 vote per member).
 
Additional Membership Criteria
  • Must be an organisation of and for people with disabilities with a governing body comprised of a majority of persons with disabilities. 
    AND/OR
  • An organisation that represents women with disabilities, young persons with disabilities or indigenous persons with disabilities in the Pacific with the governing body comprised of a majority of women/young persons/indigenous persons with disabilities. 

Associate Membership:

Rights and Benefits
  • Participate in general meetings.
  • Contribute to the development of the broad policy and direction of the Pacific Disability Forum.
  • Eligibility for appointment to working groups.
 
Additional Membership Criteria
  • Must be an organisation whose governing body is comprised of a majority of family members and carers of persons with disabilities.
    OR
  • Be an international disability organisation recognised and active in the Pacific region.

Corporate Membership:

Rights and Benefits
  • Participate in general meetings of the Pacific Disability Forum (but not entitled to a vote)
 
Additional Membership Criteria
  • Be willing to make a financial investment or contribution towards the Pacific Disability Forum.

Life Membership:

Life membership is only granted on the recommendation of the Pacific Disability Forum Board and approval by the General Forum. It is given to individuals who have made an outstanding contribution towards the Pacific Disability Forum. Life members receive the same rights and benefits as associate members.  Life members do not pay membership fees.
